Sunday, December 1st, is the perfect day to enjoy the city on foot. Nikis Avenue will be transformed into a pedestrian street and the part of the beach promenade that was being restructured during the last years will open to the public.
This way, the seafront of the city will be whole again. The biggest urban renewal of the last decades will be completed! The citizens will have the chance to walk around seven new parks, of over 150,000 square meters in total, covering a 5-km seafront.
Just for one day, come and enjoy the most beautiful stroll in Thessaloniki. Tell your friends and come on foot. We will open the beach promenade! Nikis Avenue will be closed to cars, from 11 to 5 in the afternoon. Many events will take place all along the seafront.
Among others, Mario, Christos Mitrentzis, the Symphony Orchestra of Papafio Graduates “Melitefs”, and the troupe of the performance will be in front of Vasiliko Theatre, at 13.30, to celebrate the opening of the beach promenade.
The celebration will be enriched with dozens of different activities and events by bodies, groups and associations of the city that volunteered to entertain and inform the public for free. Dancing, music, introduction to nautical sports, activities for children, information about AIDS/HIV within the framework of the World AIDS Day, rollers, yoga, Thessaloniki Food Festival are some of the things that will take place all along the seafront.
