Reworks 2013 First Acts & dates Announcement
Reworks celebrates its 9th version in September, making Thessaloniki for another year the meeting point for music fans from across the country and abroad. Starting from Athens in March and this year’s presentations in London, Berlin, Sofia and Skopje this summer the 9 th edition of the International Music festival Reworks will be held on 20-22 September 2013.
Reworks is the only Greek festival which consistently raises the broad scope of modern electronic music and it is consistently rewarded for 5 years in the top 10 festivals in the world for September according to the American-British guide Resident Advisor.
Today the festival announces the first artists that will be presented in the 3rd weekend of September of which stand out Paul Kalkbrenner and Josh Wink, two names which have influenced the development and course of modern music like few artists.
Line up & special projects / The first names
One more year Reworks will highlight innovative musical trends, new cultural ideas through the urban environment by presenting artists from around the world. Paul Kalkbrenner from Berlin, favorite as few in our country, the legend of american Techno & House Josh Wink will be hosted along with some of the most established names of the year as the americans Maceo Plex & Danny Daze in the presentation of Ellum, the british Eats Everything & Bicep. For the first time in Thessaloniki, will also be presented the label Desolat with tINI and the Robert Dietz. Moreover for one more year Reworks will be an important platform for the presentation of new and pioneering Greek artists. The first names for Reworks 2013:

Undoubtedly, the presence that stands out in the line up is that of Paul Kalkbrenner, who is now one of the hottest names in the scene with pieces that are a landmark for contemporary music as “Sky & Sand”, “Aaron”, “Mad World”,”Dockyard”, “Gigahertz” etc. Creator of the soundtrack and the film’s protagonist “Berlin Calling”, Kalkbrenner is the new flagship personality of the German scene with its sales breaking all records. In Reworks he will present his new album “Icke Wieder” and all his favorite hits.
Another significant presence is that of Josh Wink, who returns after seven years in Thessaloniki. A legend of the american scene, based in Philadelphia who has given us some of the most important musical moments in techno & house with tracks like “Don’t Laugh”, “Higher State of consciousness”, “How is your evening so far”, “Are you there” etc. In Reworks he will be hosted for the first time, where he will present his unique hypnotic sound.
After his stunning performances in 2012 at Reworks Warehouse, Maceo Plex could not be missing from this year’s line up. Having a great year under his belt and his hits “Vibe Your love”, “Under the sheets”, “Future Musik”, is the new leader of House and this sound will be presented through one of the label of the year, Ellum, which will be presented through a showcase along with Danny Daze.
For the first time Desolat will be presented with it full-rate tech house sound with representatives tINI and Robert Dietz. The festival keeps presenting new trends and artists and it welcomes for the first time in Greece Eats Everything and Bicep, two of the names of the year who will present the british nu-house & Disco scene.
In the Greek presence the first names are Ison/Actor One, Darktom & George Adi, and Stassy representing the new project Techno Taverna.
A symbol in the cultural development of Thessaloniki
The Reworks continues to be present for the 9th consecutive year and is the only musical event that keeps Thessaloniki on the world music map consistently over the years with awards and ongoing presentations. A musical fest for everyone, which expects this year to give a smile and joy to the public. For the 2nd consecutive year the festival will run for three days from 20 to 22 September. For the first time, the festival fits in the first day except from the workshops and the Free Stage in the heart of the city, and a presentation of a record company on Friday night. With the economic crisis plaguing the country and culture as one of its victims, Reworks continues with all its strength trying to create a musical fest for all. To give moments of joy but also to inform the public.
With the message and this year “we define our future”, invites the public to confront the difficult situations of the era and is inviting artists and public from Greece and abroad, to “define” their own future without inertia and stagnation.
