Ski resorts turning “white”

The first dense snowflakes appeared at the ski centers of the surrounding region of Thessaloniki. Several mountains landscape turned “white” as the winter seems that started in the best possible way.

3-5 Pigadia were covered with 10cm of snow, while Kaimaktsalan (Pella) and Seli (Imathia) were dressed “white” where in the morning the lowest temperatures were -10 and -6 degrees Celsius, respectively. According to weather forecast new snowfall and bitter cold are anticipated during the upcoming weekend. If this will be verified, the ski resorts will be able to open their doors for lovers of winter sports in the next ten days. The maintenance of the lifts, clearing of the paths and the formation of slopes have already been completed and ski centers with artificial snow equipment will operate even earlier.

Meanwhile, on 17 and 18 Januar the 1st national championship of students will take place in Seli ski center as part of the celebration of Snow World Day, where any student may participate, novice or experienced in skiing.
