Trentemøller
Trentemøller @ Fix Factory of Sound | 27.02.14
Trentemøller, one of the most gifted musicians and producers in the global electronic scene of the last decade, is coming to Thessaloniki for a live show, along with his band, Thursday, Feb. 27 at Fix Factory of Sound.
Copenhagen based musician Anders Trentemøller´s talent for heart wrenching melodic moments and exceptional productions, fused with his trademark sound somewhere between indie and electronic, has established him as one of the most respected and admired artists and remixers of this century.
In 2006, following a line of 12” electronic EPs, Trentemøller released his groundbreaking debut album ‘The Last Resort’. High placements in several polls for best album of the year followed and established his name to a much broader audience. In 2007 Trentemøller assembled his first full live band with his friends, multi artist Henrik Vibskov on drums and musician Mikael Simpson on guitar. Complete with visuals from director Karim Ghahwagi, the ensuing ‘Trentemøller: Live In Concert’ tour was a milestone, bringing him to the US for the first time as well as some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Glastonbury (UK), Roskilde (Denmark) and Melt! (Germany).
In 2009 ‘The Trentemøller Chronicles’, a double-compilation of unreleased songs, his personal favorite non-album tracks as well as a collection of remixes for high profile acts as Röyksopp, Moby and The Knife, was released. Later that year Trentemøller hit another personal career landmark, when he headlined the Orange Stage at Roskilde Festival, playing in front of 60,000 people featuring a unique set design created by Henrik Vibskov. The crowd reactions and press reviews were all top shelf.
After starting up his very own record imprint, In My Room, Trentemøller’s second album ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’ was released in 2010. Four years after The Last Resort, it fulfilled the unenviable task of following up a modern classic. It was also a move into a more analogue sound influenced heavily by indie and post punk – and incorporating even more live instrumentation and vocals.
The record was met with high applause for taking yet another clear step away from his electronic beginnings into more experimental soundscapes. Expanding his live band, now seven people on stage, he kept on touring around the world for two years. Highlights included a barnstorming set at 2011’s Coachella Festival, where NME called the show “one of the biggest breakouts of Coachella,” he “stunned all onlookers and became the toast of the fest.” Trentemøller made even further inroads into the US shortly after, appearing on Carson Daly and playing throughout the US on a sold-out tour. The world tour ended with two consecutive, sold out shows at Den Grå Hal in Christiania (Copenhagen), which was recorded and later was released as the album ‘Live In Copenhagen’.
Following his sophomore album, ‘Reworked/Remixed’ was released. A double compilation, celebrating some of Trentemøller’s favorite remixes he completed for other artists, and also some of his personal picks where other musicians have reworked his music – featuring the likes of Modeselektor, UNKLE, Franz Ferdinand, Andrew Weatherall, Efterklang and Depeche Mode.
Trentemøller’s captivating sound has also found a home in the world of cinema. His productions have been used by prominent directors including Oliver Stone (Savages), Pedro Almodóvar (The Skin I Live In) and most recently Jacques Audiard, who soundtracked a pivotal scene of his film Rust & Bone, with Anders’ classic bootleg remix of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘State Trooper’, that he had made for himself to play at one of his increasingly rare DJ sets.
In September 2013 Trentemøller will release his third full-length album ‘Lost’. “Much like its predecessor, ‘Lost’ serves not only as a logical continuation of his work, but also as yet another fuck-you to whatever genre you thought you had him boxed into.“ (Vice)
‘Lost’ is a symbol of the powerful sound Trentemøller has gained through his extensive live touring. It’s a record defined by its thematic guitars, analog synthesizers and robust melodies; the antithesis to the feel of programmed, quantized music that some of his most early fans know him for. It’s also his most collaborative effort yet, pairing him with a vibrant cast of vocal features— the legendary duo Low, Jonny Pierce from The Drums, Marie Fisker, Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead, Jana Hunter of Lower Dens, Ghost Society and Sune Wagner of The Raveonettes all make appearances on this stunning album, which traverses krautrock, indie-rock, post-punk and even jazz and classical influences.
In the summer of 2013 Trentemøller supported Depeche Mode on their Delta Machine world tour, taking him to stadiums around Europe – and he’ll be hitting the festival circuit once again, including appearances at Melt, Dour, Pitch and Zurich Open Air. The remaining part of 2013 and all of 2014 is equally dedicated to touring with his band – the one thing Anders loves just as much as being in the studio creating music to take to the stage.

Sasha
Sasha @ Club Le Freak | 08.02.14
His name is connected with the history of electronic music and even after 25 years of career in the club scene is an inspiration for young and old djs and producers. SASHA! Saturday 08 February, Club Le Freak welcomes a dj and producer, landmark for music history, Sasha! Along with him X.P.Riens and J Kar.
Sasha
Real name / Alexander Coe
The best DJs know that Djing is first about being able to read people and then about being able to tap into that human experience and take it on a journey. Sasha has always been noted for being a master at this, and although his style is described as “Progressive Trance” with a good presence of House and break beat elements; his music has always reached beyond those record store titles, thus separating him from his contemporaries. Sasha creates and plays music that gives emotion a chance to speak. It is this universal appeal that he has tapped into that has established his strong fanbase around the globe. Do not be mistaken, this kind of recognition does not happen overnight. Born and raised in a small town in Wales, Sasha was exposed to Motown records when he was just a baby and it was in the home that his talent for playing the piano was developed. His first exposure to house music was at Manchester’s Hacienda; just as dance music exploded into the summer of love. This impact encouraged his move from Wales to Manchester. His first exploration into Djing was when a DJ in a local pub announced he was looking for people to play club dates. Sasha volunteered and now says that he “had about 30 records and basically just blagged it”.
Shelly’s was the launch pad for the residency at Renaissance, where Sasha created his niche and helped forge a new style in UK house music. At Renaissance two major things happened; Sasha mixed the first ever UK DJ mix album and he met John Digweed which cemented the partnership known as “Northern Exposure”. Over the past couple of years, Sasha and John have played together on five continents, have mixed 3 “Northern Exposure” albums which have sold to over 1 million people worldwide. Although Sasha has clearly reached a celebrity status, it¹s his generous personality, his love for his peers and of course his completely candid humour that has enabled him to maintain such a likeable high profile in the often-fickle world of club culture. Always one to share what comes his way, Sasha invited long time friend and collaborator BT to take part in what he called “one of the most amazing musical experiences in my life”. He is referring to his experience out at Peter Gabrielle¹s Real World studio in 1998 where Sasha explains in a mixer article, “we were in there for a week and were just going to do one track (during Real World¹s annual recording week where artists from all over the world are invited to Bath to record at the famous studios). “There were so many talented musicians around and the vibe down there was incredible. People were walking in, hitting things, strumming things, and slapping their goats! There were mad African people everywhere. We ended up recording five tracks and finishing four”.
Since then of course, Sasha has gone from DJ to superstar status in America, where “Sarsha” is a household name for many teenagers and his and John’s residency has continued to provide the launchpad for British dance music into New York and beyond. The sound of Twilo: deep, pumping late night .h.o.u.s.e. is encapsulated on ‘Communicate’, Sasha and John’s joint mix album for INCredible. Modern club anthems like Trancesetters ‘Roaches’ and Trisco’s Muzak all blended in the late night, early morning way that New York’s clubbers have come know and love. For Sasha, music is his first love, and what gives him a buzz is being able to share his music with others. From his presence at those all too talked about after hour parties where his special impromptu sets are heard, to his signature always present child like antics that leave people wondering if he has modelled his life after Peter Pan, to his DJ sets at clubs around the world, all lined with the backdrop of his own productions, Sasha leaves trails of memories, melodies and stories wherever he goes. These are the things that have been, and will continue to be remembered and passed on for years. And that is what legends are made of.

Iced Earth
Iced Earth @ Principal Club Theater | 01.02.13
Few heavy metal bands define the genre like America’s ICED EARTH. Fewer still elicit the rabid, off-the-charts fan loyalty that ICED EARTH does. Formed in 1984 by Jon Schaffer, a street-tough kid with the drive (and talent!) to create a band to make his heroes Judas Priest, KISS, and Iron Maiden proud, ICED EARTH released its riff-heavy self-titled debut album in 1990 – and never looked back.
Nine studio albums – considered masterpieces of metal – cemented the band’s reputation for crafting exceptionally well-made music, the centerpiece of which being Schaffer’s trademark rhythm guitar style and powerful, in-your-face lyrics that often combine themes of self reliance, a healthy distrust of authority, history, and science fiction. On record, ICED EARTH is a force to be reckoned with. Live, the band lays waste. In fact, ICED EARTH’s first live album (Alive In Athens, 1999) is lauded as sitting very near the top of the list of the best live albums ever recorded. The sheer power and intensity of that recording – which captured two crazy, magical nights in Greece – is unparalleled in the annals of music history.
Over the years, Schaffer has surrounded himself with some of the finest musicians in the world – including famed vocalists Matt Barlow, Tim Owens, and now Stu Block – to help bring his musical visions to life. Dystopia, the band’s 10th studio album, was released on October 17th in Europe and October 18th in the United States. It was supported by the most extensive and far-reaching world tour in ICED EARTH history which started on October 30, 2011 and ended on December 21, 2012.
2013 saw the band release their highly anticipated “Live In Ancient Kourion”-DVD (which was filmed in an Ancient Amphitheatre on the island of Cyprus) and commence work on their next studio album “Plagues Of Babylon” as well as play festivals all summer in Europe and India. In typical ICED EARTH fashion, no time was wasted and right after completion of the album, the band found themselves as main support to VOLBEAT all over European arenas.
Their new album “Plagues Of Babylon” has been streaming on Spotify since December 27th, 2013 and is hitting stores world wide in January 2014. The “Worldwide Plagues”-headline tour kicked off on January 9, 2014 in Saarbrücken, Germany.

Senser
Senser @ Block 33 | 24.01.14
Senser have just completed a brand new Pledge funded album ‘To The Capsules’. Incorporating their unique fusion of rock, metal, hiphop and alternative electronica, staying true to the sound they have been producing since 1989. Senser became known for their political lyrics and a huge live sound which gained headline slots at major UK and European festivals. Senser achieved worldwide success with debut album ‘Stacked Up’ in 1995, which peaked at number 4 in the album charts. They subsequently split up having toured half the planet.
After a long hiatus, in 2009 Senser wrote and recorded their fourth studio album ‘How To Do Battle’ working with producers Neil McLellan (The Prodigy), Jason Wilcox (You Me At Six, Reuben, Fightstar) and New York hip hop producer Scott Harding (Wu Tang Clan, New Kingdom). The album achieved success with press such as Kerrang! and Metal Hammer Magazine praising it, and put the band back on the festival circuit in 2010 where they caused a frenzy on the Pepsi Max Stage at Download Festival. A successful UK headline tour followed, as well as club shows and festivals in Portugal, Czech Republic, France, Spain and the UK. All three singles from the album; ‘Resistance Now’, ‘End Of The World Show’ and ‘2 3 Clear’ aired on Radio 1’s Rock Show, an Xfm live session and the video’s on Scuzz TV.
Planet Mosh summed it up perfectly: “With Senser back from the 90′s, I was worried that they might have brought the 90′s sound with them, they didn’t. The delivery was superbly tight and the room erupted into a mosh pit. This wasn’t 90′s, this was Senser showing other bands how the transition over decades can be done perfectly. Fully retaining their powerful roots yet managing to make every track sound fresh and new. Quite an achievement.”
2011 saw the band release the ‘Biting Rhymes’ EP – a collection of classic hip hop covers recorded in true Senser style. This release saw the band complete a very successful UK tour scoring rave reviews from world press. Senser were also joined by dynamic guest vocalist Imma, adding her own superb twist on Kerstin’s euphoric sound.
Senser have supported rock giants Rage Against The Machine and Tool, and Limp Bizkit cite them as an influence. The Prodigy have used Senser samples on their albums, proving that Senser are one of Britain’s most revolutionary bands and were instrumental in developing and inspiring cross-over music.
With ‘To The Capsules’ release Senser will be back out on the road at gigs and festivals through out the year.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ Principal Club Theater | 05.03.14
One of the top rock bands of the planet finally coming to Greece: the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will be found on 5th of March in Thessaloniki at the Principal Club Theater.
For 15 years the BRMC move one impressive drive after another and constantly touring the world, selling out the tickets in venues from the U.S. and Europe to China and Australia, while their name features in major festivals. With their characteristically dirty and mercilessly sexy sound and eminently self-defeating attitude, the BRMC write their own chapter in rock mythology .
If they did things by the book and followed the dictates of the major music companies today probably would be as famous as the White Stripes and the Strokes. But they chose the hard, independent way, based only on their music and have done it extremely well. Their songs have been heard in movies, video games, TV series and commercials, their tours never end and their popularity remains impressive. All these prove what a great band this is.
