Gustavo Russo, who is a choreographer, a creator, a transgressor, a pioneering and an inspiring artist of the new generations, together with Samantha García, uses the tango as an instrument to transmit thorough the movement and the production, reinventing, once more, in an only and incomparable way the tango show, giving up, as always, the preconceived and stereotyped canons.

Tango in Red Major is a nowadays show with a rhythm from yesterday and ideas from tomorrow, full of colour, beauty, glamour and elegance.

The troupe of Tango in Red Major is composed by twenty extremely, talented and pretty artists chosen and led specially by the first dancers Gustavo Russo and Samantha García. There are fourteen dancers on stage, the best dancers of Buenos Aires, some of which have been working with Gustavo Russo´s prior world famous show Tango Seduccion. They are famous, talented dancers, a true expression of this
immortal dance.

The Orchestra of Tango in Red Major will beautifully introduce new arrangements to some of the most famous Tangos as well as to the new ones. Not everything has been invented, written and danced. The show is a magnificent and brave vision of Tango, it is like a journey to this unequal and endless art, popular, incandescent and acclaimed dance.

The main goal is to introduce a specific type of culture to the public and create a unique annual festival in Thessaloniki. Street art belongs to the urban environment and this festival is our way of showing it and familiarize the public with it. Top domestic as well as foreign professional artists will do what they do best for two whole days to show everyone the common forms of modern street art, to show everyone what street art is all about. After 16 years thrilling audiences around the world, the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club® is set to bid ‘Adios’ with a farewell world tour, which includes a return for the group to Thessaloniki.

The group, which has been touring the globe in different forms, guises and combinations since 1997, grew out of the release of the Grammy Award-winning best-selling album Buena Vista Social Club™, and its line-up continues to include a number of the original artists featured on the landmark recording and film.

Under the musical direction of band leader and trombonist Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, the line-up for the Adios Tour will feature several of those who played on the original album and film, including the incomparable veteran diva Omara Portuondo, trumpeter Guajiro Mirabal and laúd virtuoso Barbarito Torres. They will also be accompanied by some of those who have joined the journey along the way, including dynamic veteran tres player Papi Oviedo; Havana’s young star pianist Rolando Luna; a superb rhythm section comprising double bassist Pedro Pablo and percussionists Andres Coayo, Filiberto Sánchez and Alberto ‘La Noche’; a three-man trumpet section led by high note specialist Luis Allemany and celebrated singers Carlos Calunga and Idania Valdéz.

The Adios Tour represents the distillation of more than a thousand shows over 16 years involving more than forty musicians. During that time the group has evolved into a customised, dynamic, multi-generational big band in which veterans and younger performers have combined to celebrate Cuban musical tradition with flair and élan.
